The wireless dongle wasn't recognized right away by Windows though. So if that happens to you, just navigate to your "device manager" right click on windows icon that you have on the bottom left of your PC , find the line where you have a device error yellow exclamation mark and then click on it and install the driver. After that step, everything worked just fine. This set comes also with a set of 2 AA batteries, so you have everything you need right there to get started.

I have to update the controller firmware using the app store accessories app I can't believe there is such a lack of support for this and the process is so convoluted.
I knew the controller was Bluetooth compatible with windows 10, I bought the adapter because it presumably works with windows 7. Nope, not sure why I need the adapter. I'm used to the layout and feel of this so I'll keep this one, but never again. There's always a compromise. This one feels solid, requires no out of the box calibration, nor any calibration at all.
